Hi Elona,
Thanks for your comment - haven't seen you around in a while, I hope all is well!

Let me be clear, I am not saying that we should not use digital tools. I am arguing that this is not a 'digital' taxonomy but simply a current taxonomy that incorporates digital tools into its 'how to get there' indicators.

Separating the digital from other modes of learning is a mistake. We need to keep our eyes on the Big Ideas we want kids to learn and recognize that we have more tools to get there now than ever before. I think that focusing on the digital minimizes that notion. I don't want kids to know how to make a powerpoint but be unable to organize their ideas without one. Does that make sense?

Tracy,
I agree with what you say. But let me say this: the new tools engage my students. My grades 9/12 students spend most of their leisure time in the digital world and feel comfortable there. Using the new digital tools in the classroom seems natural to them and engages them unlike traditional pen and paper.

I look at Blooms Digital Taxonomy as a guideline that suggests how I can use the digital tools my students love to use. Of course digital tools are not the only tools I use, but they are the ones that engage my struggling/reluctant learners the most. My students have told me they wish they could use them in all their classes.
